There's More To It Than That!

Let's Think About This...
Sometimes even the smart people say things that are...well... to put it kindly, not very well thought out.
Happy Jumping Flea      Many of these tidbits of misinformation are repeated over and over, and few of us ever question them. Why is that?
For that matter, why shouldn't we believe them? Shouldn't we trust the experts?
Well yeah, most of the time. They know more than we do about whatever they're experts about. Besides, we don't have time to relearn everything that everyone else has learned before us. We just have to accept most of what we learn. Still, it's probably good if we all occasionally think for ourselves and question (politely and tactfully, of course) what we hear or read. Listen to that little voice that says something just doesn't seem quite right about that. Sometimes that voice is correct. If we allow ourselves to think a little more about it, it sometimes becomes apparent that "there is more to it than that".

This is sort of a bad news section for those of us (like me, but not Dr Galapagos, of course) that love to repeat these little fascinating non-facts. Ah well.

WHO WE ARE

If a person reads and learns from the chapters in this section they may become such a brilliant, insightful, clear, and logical thinker, that they will be in grave danger of becoming one of those obnoxious know-it-alls who are always correcting the innocent well meaning folks who dare to repeat some poorly thought out concept in their presence. The Flying Turtle does not in any way endorse such tacky boorish behavior (though Dr. Galapagos does it all the time). We don't want you to become obnoxious. We just want to help us all think a little better. Very Strong Show-offy Ant

The first of many more articles to come begins below. It explores the often reported "super" athletic feats of insects and other little creatures. Can we wimpy humans salvage some of our pride?

Yes. The fact is, ants and fleas are pretty mediocre when it comes to strength and jumping. Indeed, if they were our size we would quickly realize how wimpy they really are.
